Description

Ready for the most demanding live environments, including large-scale concerts with multiple on-stage performers, the Axient Digital PSM ADTD Dual IEM Transmitter from Shure allows monitor engineers, RF engineers, rental houses, and production companies to deliver two stereo channels or four mono channels of legendary Shure audio quality to their talent's ADXR bodypacks and preferred in-ear monitors—all from a single rackmount unit broadcasting over a wide 184 MHz tuning range. This ultra-flexible flagship audio transmitter seamlessly integrates into existing setups and uses WMAS technology to maximize efficiency and reliability, allowing monitor engineers to spend less time worrying about technical difficulties and disruptions and instead focus on crafting inspiring mixes for musicians and artists. The scalable system lets RF engineers quickly and easily create complex setups, incorporating multiple mixes tailored to suit performers working in large touring productions and top-tier events.

High-Performance RF for Mission-Critical Reliability

  • The ADTD offers Spatial Diversity, True-Digital Diversity, and Frequency Diversity to ensure reliable wireless transmission during high-profile performances—when dropouts and interference are simply unacceptable.
  • Spatial Diversity uses two antennas, operating on the same exact frequency and covering either the same area or allowing you to extend coverage for larger spaces and stage thrusts.
  • True-Digital Diversity defends against dropouts and noise by combining two discrete RF signals per receiver channel using a quality-based maximal-ratio-combining algorithm.
  • Frequency Diversity allows you to transmit audio on two frequencies, and the bodypack receiver will automatically switch between them, depending on which is more robust; this requires the separately available AD610 Access Point and AD600 Spectrum Manager.
  • Shure's Wireless Multichannel Audio System (WMAS) mode packs more channels into larger transmission blocks, allowing you to maximize efficiency and save space across today's increasingly limited RF spectrum. It's vastly more efficient than a traditional narrowband transmitter while significantly reducing noise—for pristine, transparent monitor mixes that even the most demanding artists will appreciate.
  • Encrypted RF transmission guarantees signal security for every use case with digital transmission latency as low as 2.9 milliseconds.
  • With flexible WMAS modes, you can choose to free up space to use for channel count scalability or maximize RF performance.

Four Transmission Modes

  • Multichannel Wideband: This mode uses Shure WMAS technology, allowing each ADTD to transmit up to two stereo audio channels on a single frequency. In this mode, the system can be expanded to accommodate up to 28 channels per 6 MHz band and up to 40 channels in an 8 MHz band.
  • Narrowband: A traditional mode, offering more RF output power for a greater transmission range. Using this mode, the system can be expanded to up to 17 channels per 6 MHz band.
  • Analog FM: This hybrid technology offers a virtually imperceptible latency of 1.29 ms, great for use with latency-inducing effect chains where every millisecond counts. This mode is also backward compatible with the PSM1000 monitoring system.
  • Axient Digital Standard: Converts the ADTD into a standard AD series Axient Digital transmitter to send long-distance wireless audio to Axient Digital wireless receivers.

Flexible Connection Options and Advanced Networking

  • The 4 balanced combo XLR-1/4" analog inputs can be switched to accommodate AES3 digital inputs. In addition, a pair of RJ45 connections supports Dante and AES67 digital audio inputs.
  • A second pair of RJ45 ports provides digital networking capabilities, allowing you to remotely control the transmitter from a computer using Shure's Wireless Workbench software.
  • CueMode allows engineers to save up to 64 encrypted stage mixes, which talent can monitor from a single bodypack and the engineer can dial up via the front-panel 3.5mm headphone jack. The headphone jack features a high-powered amp and customizable volume knob to deliver plenty of monitoring volume, even in loud environments.
  • When used with an AD610 Access Point, Shure's ShowLink technology allows you to remotely adjust parameter settings on the ADXR bodypack receivers over a 2.4 GHz network. Adjust gain, change frequencies, mute signals, and more with no noticeable signal interruption. If a receiver is powered off while a frequency change occurs, the new frequency information is automatically sent when the bodypack is powered back on.
  • The internal combiner allows all the channels to broadcast on a single pair of antennas to eliminate potential intermodulation problems and maximize RF efficiency.
  • The SBC441 (available separately) is a networked charging station that accommodates up to four ADXR bodypacks for in-receiver battery charging and provides engineers with charging statuses via Wireless Workbench.

Expandable and Scalable

  • Although each channel offers a maximum number of 8 receiver slots, there's no limit to the number of receivers you can use with the Axient Digital PSM system—as long as all the bodypacks are tuning in to existing channels.
  • If you're using more than one transmitter, the AD221 is a passive 2-way antenna combiner/splitter that enables Automatic Transmitter Compensation with the ADTD or ADTQ Axient Digital PSM transmitters, which helps defend against passive signal loss.
  • For larger setups, the AD8C combines the RF outputs from up to eight different Axient Digital PSM transmitters into one output to feed a single transmit antenna. In addition, it can also combine the RF from up to four Axient Digital PSM transmitters to feed two transmit antennas to support Spatial Diversity.
  • Shure allows you to buy channel licenses and expand the system, depending on your needs; these can be stored and transferred between transmitters via a cloud-based interface. This lets rental houses and touring companies maximize channel counts for larger productions or more crowded RF environments when needed, all without having to ship a rack unit to the venue.
  • By purchasing additional licenses and using the digital inputs, you could max-out a single rackspace transmitter to accommodate up to 16 stereo IFB channels or 32 mono channels in WMAS mode.
