The Esfera 5.1 Complete Surround System by Sennheiser is for capturing audio. It can be used in various environments to provide 5.1 surround from two channels of audio for applications such as studios, broadcast, live stage, theater, houses of worship, post production and more. The system consists of the SPM 8000 stereo microphone, and the SPB 8000 processing unit, that converts the signals of the microphones into a complete 5.1 audio signal.

For capturing audio, the SPM 8000 Esfera Stereo Microphone by Sennheiser makes complicated surround mic installations a thing of the past. This microphone can be used to provide 5.1 surround sound from two channels of audio, for applications such as recording, live sound, theater, rehearsals, and much more. It features two RF cardioid condenser microphone capsules in an XY configuration, with a frequency response of 35 Hz to 20 kHz each, and is powered by 48V phantom power. When used in conjunction with the SPB 8000 central unit, (sold separately) the two microphones can create a 5.1 channel surround effect. The microphone is supplied complete with basket windshield, suspension with pistol grip, "hairy" cover and stereo cable (XLR-5 to 2x XLR-3).

The SPB 8000 Esfera Surround Sound Process Base by Sennheiser is for converting stereo microphone signals into 5.1 surround. It can be used in various environments when capturing audio in studios, live stage, theater, rehearsals, houses of worship, and more. The system consists of the SPM 8000 stereo microphone, (sold separately), and the SPB 8000 processing unit that converts the stereo signals of the microphone into a complete 5.1 audio signal. The DPB 8000 supplies the microphone with 48V phantom power, is input switchable between analog and digital AES3 signals and has a switchable compressor built-in. In addition it features 4 programmable presets for storage of 5.1 surround parameters. The SPB 8000 is adjustable via a web interface.
